The Halls of Residence of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda have kept their registers since 1958. Sixteen halls, four thousand nine hundred beds, and every name entered in ink. Nothing is ever erased.

The university's buildings were raised in the Indo-Saracenic manner: brick, arch and dome, built to hold institutions for centuries. The Halls of Residence stand in that same ground.
